I interviewed Briana of Unemployed Brooklyn. Intro:
Funemployment. It’s a term for those directly affected by the economic downturn, coping with changing lifestyles and taking advantage of freed time to find creative alternatives while meeting new people and creating a network for the unemployed establishment. While it suggests reckless and irresponsible behavior, funemployment replaces fear and negativity of inevitable changes and substitutes powerlessness with a sense of entitlement, finding and creating opportunities to venture towards directions that one didn’t have the guts or the time to face with a job.

I meet with the ladies behind Whitney’s Biennial. Intro:
Artistic expression often serves as a reflection, molding the present into pieces of history that are duly mocked and chastised if dismissed by America’s media-centric bandwagon. Such an example is the rise and fall, and hopeful rebirth of Whitney Houston, whose upcoming new album will oddly symbolize an economic, and by default, artistic comeback for four artists who conceived “Whitney’s Biennial,” a group show of works by 38 participating artists at c.r.e.a.m. projects in Greenpoint.
